About the project

Gezin is one of the smallest solar power project existing in Voluntary Carbon Standards. The technology employed converts solar energy into electrical energy. The technology is environment friendly since there are no GHG emissions associated with the electricity generation. The solar power project uses crystalline silicon based solar PV modules. The project site is located in Maden district of Küçükova village, in Elazığ province of Turkey. The total capacity of the project is 3.83 MWe. The generated energy is fed into Gezin Distribution Center, which is connected to the grid through Hazar-1 Substation. An estimated net electricity generation of 6,963 MWh per year by the efficient utilization of the available solar energy generated through the project replaces the grid electricity, which is constituted of different fuel sources, mainly fossil fuels. The electricity produced by the project results in a total emission reduction of 3,952 tonnes of CO2e/year. The total emission reduction is estimated to be 39,520 tonnes of CO2e for the first crediting period, which is 15-01-2018 to 14-01-2028. Moreover, the project contributes to further dissemination of solar energy and extension of national power generation.
